Lori Boland
Lori’s career began in Victoria, BC where as a university student she worked with the B.C. Eating Disorders Association which led her into the field of counselling and mental health. Lori has worked with various organizations since graduating with a BA in Child and Youth Care and Master of Social Work. She has supported clients struggling with a wide range of difficulties including anxiety and depression, eating disorders, burnout, complex mental health diagnoses and family difficulties. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, Lori facilitated preventative stress-management and wellness interventions with health care professionals including nurses, physicians and allied health workers. Lori currently works part-time as a social work clinician at BC Children’s Hospital in the CAPE unit (Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Emergency), and part time as a counsellor in private practice.
Lori approaches all clients through an anti-oppressive, intersectional & trauma informed lens. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Mindful Self-Compassion, Somatic/Trauma Therapy and Child and Youth Centred Expressive Therapies.
Lori is known to her clients as being compassionate, knowledgable and a wise teacher of evidence based, easy to use - yet effective anxiety reducing tools.
Lori has a Bachelors Degree in Human and Social Development (Child and Youth Care) and a Master of Social Work Degree, both from the University of Victoria.
Most recently Lori has become a Certified Mindfulness Teacher (2023) from the Lab of Meditation, Vancouver BC.
